God Moves Personally

“The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel – which means God with us.” (Matt. 2:23)

Monday was Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. December 7, 1941 is a day that will live in infamy – the vicious attack led our nation to war. We had dragged our feet until the war finally  came to us. As long as the war was across the ocean, we could ignore it. Peal Harbor changed all that…the war became personal.

Heroditus once said: “In peace, sons bury their fathers. In war, fathers bury their sons.” WWII is personal to us because we sent our sons. We didn’t phone it in or mail a check. We stuck our necks out!

That’s why Jesus’ incarnation is so meaningful. God sent his own Son to rescue and redeem us. Maybe he could have done it another way, but he didn’t.

It was personal to him.

I hope you’ll join us Sunday for my sermon “God Moves Personally” and we’ll discuss the incarnation of Christ.
