Security - Psalm 125

Security - Psalm 125

Psalm 125 // Three times a year, devoted Hebrew families would leave their homes on a pilgrimage to worship God in Jerusalem. On the climb, they would sing songs known as the songs of ascent. Joy, providence, security, help, community…every aspect of life were discussed in these psalms…which have become a picture of the Christian life itself. Join New Life Church and Dr. Jim Mann this summer for “Ascent” as we study Psalms 120-134 together and as we journey toward God.

Safe and Secure

Be at peace. God’s running the show. Your feelings of doubt that creep in from time to time, the fact of suffering in this world, even the wavering of your own heart – none of that suggests God has stepped off his throne. And because he reigns, we can be at peace.

From Series: "On the Road"

The Bible begins with a journey. “By faith Abraham…set out for a place that he was going to receive as an inheritance. He went out, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he stayed as a foreigner in the land of promise, living in tent…he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.” (Hebrews 11:8–10, CSB) Abraham never found the place for which his heart longed and his soul yearned while he was alive. Life is a journey. Each oasis we find in the desert ultimately fails to satisfy. We live in tents…but the city we desire remains just out of reach. We’ll going to look at the Psalms in order to investigate what we need to reach that city.
