Hearing the Voice of God

Hearing the Voice of God

God’s voice is easy to reject. Think of the time Jesus said to the 5,000 "'You must eat my flesh and drink my blood.' Therefore, when many of his disciples heard this, they said, 'This teaching is hard. Who can accept it?'" (John 6:60) We understand now what Jesus meant, but many disciples left him at that point. Sometimes, Jesus’ teaching is simply hard to accept. But, if we want to hear God’s voice, if we’re available and we desire to be obedient to God’s instruction – a yes face, and we’re humble enough to listen, God will speak, we will hear, and we’ll be better for it! It’s up to us to listen.

Scripture References: Mark 1:35, John 15:15, Deuteronomy 4:29, Isaiah 40:31, Matthew 6:33, John 5:30, Numbers 12:3-8, 1 Samuel 15:17, John 3:30, Proverbs 11:14, Acts 20:22, John 10:27, Matthew 7:16-18, Isaiah 55:8-9, John 6:60

From Series: "Vox Dei"

It has been over 2,000 years since the canon of the Bible was closed and God still speaks through His Word. But does God still communicate with his people in other ways? Are there still prophets and other spiritual gifts? Does God give us dreams or visions? Vox Dei (the Voice of God) is a New Life series exploring these questions and encouraging us that God hasn’t lost his voice…we just need to tune our hears to hear.
