The Day the Revolution Began

What happened at Easter? On a surface level, it is pretty clear what happened: betrayal, arrest, nighttime hearings, rough Roman justice, violence, beating, weeping, death, burial. But what was happening at a deeper level? What did the end of Jesus’ life do to his promise of a kingdom? Was the dream dead? Was the talk about the Kingdom of God finished? Was Jesus’ intention to keep on preaching, teaching, and healing only to be caught in the wrong place at the wrong time? It leads to a second question. Why did Jesus die?

Scripture References: Luke 24:1-6

From Series: "The Day the Revolution Began"

Easter. Jesus’ death and resurrection are the culmination of the gospel story. Or are they? Are they perhaps just the beginning? The beginning of something bigger, more explosive, more dangerous than we’ve ever imagined? Perhaps Easter is not the end but, simply, the day the revolution began.
