Dr. Jim Mann - 05/02/2021

In the Likeness of Humanity

Reset

Imagine you were assigned to write history and were in charge of creating the incarnation of Jesus…How would you have the Preeminent One of the universe enter human history? Would it begin in a palace or a stable…would it include wealth and prominence or poverty…would it include the top universities or a rag-tag group of disciples…would it end in a blaze of glory or scandal? In his letter to the Romans, Paul leaves off his discussion of salvation with a fitting end to this sermon: “Oh, the depth of the riches and the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments and untraceable his ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor? And who has ever given to God, that he should be repaid? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.” (Romans 11:33–36, CSB) Look what Jesus gave up for us! Shouldn’t we give ourselves wholly to him who gave so much for our sake?

One year ago, on March 15, 2020, church doors across the nation were shut. As we adapted to sheltering in place, many of us continued our worship online. Many more of us dropped out. In the course of the past year have you felt as though your day to day relationship with Christ is stuck on autopilot? Or maybe serving God has lost its luster as you sense it growing more going-through-the-motions and less meaningful. When it comes to your relationship with Jesus, have you lost the exciting and motivating first love you once enjoyed? In this sermon series, "Reset", Dr. Jim Mann shares the good news that what's been lost can be found. Join us as we restore the fire and conviction of your first love for Jesus as we learn His character, His glory, and His love for us.
