The Anatomy of Conflict

The Anatomy of Conflict

Selfish desires, injustice, discrimination, oppression, the desire for power – these fuel fights, quarrels, and wars. We call it conflict. Conflict is the collision of differing desires – when people want their own way and tension builds. So, the million-dollar question: If we’re all different in our roles, values, the way we see the world, and identities – then how can we avoid conflict? Well, we can’t. But we can be reconciliation prone rather than conflict prone. Remember, the source of conflict is sin. So, for you and I to be peacemakers, we need to deal with it.

From Series: "Waging Peace"

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God.” ~ Jesus (Matt. 5:9) Our world is one of conflict, division, and violence. Our nation is being torn apart before our eyes. We’re at a boiling point and we long for peace. But how can we find it? How can we promote it? The answer lies in the Church: “God…reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18).” In this sermon series by Dr. Jim Mann, we will discover the art of “waging peace,” how it will bless our own lives and relationships, and ultimately change the world. “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts (Col. 3:15).”
