The problem with most of us, if we’re honest, is that we lack the quality time with the Lord necessary to receive this spiritual infusion of power. But if we’ll make time to fellowship with him and allow the Holy Spirit to become your intimate partner and friend, he will fill you with the strength you need right now. This is why our daily time with the Lord is so important. Stop thinking of prayer as religious duty – and rather as cultivating a friendship. We have to learn how to fellowship with the Holy Spirit so that his power will work in us and through us. So we can be sustained during difficult times.
If your desire is to walk through life with Jesus and become more like him, let me introduce you to the Holy Spirit. Not an “it.” He doesn’t just show up at Pentecost. He is a person of the Godhead who wants to help us grow in a fulfilling, exciting, partnership with himself.
