Unless the Lord...

In our discussion of the road of life we’re on with God, we come to Psalm 127 that talks about the importance of work and how to do it right. You can work your fingers to the bone – and may be praised and rewarded down here, only to find that it was all in vain…because it was all on your own. For the psalmist, that is a weak faith and a person full of pride – because God isn’t trusted in the process. As Christians do jobs and tasks assigned to us in what the world calls “work”, we learn to pay attention to and practice what God is doing in love, mercy, justice, healing, helping, liberating, and encouraging. Work is important. YOUR work is important. But God’s work should always be in the center. Everything else is peripheral.
