Do you sometimes feel like this is your life verse? Me, too!
The last few weeks at New Life we’ve been talking about reasons to believe in Christmas. First and foremost is the fact that God loves you. The idea that “God so loved the world…” isn’t hard for us to accept. But the idea that he’s favorably disposed to me is much more challenging. We tend to respond like the shepherds: with fear and doubt.
The answer is revelation. I asked you to pray for revelation of God’s love. Did you do it? Did you receive that revelation?
Another reason to believe in Christmas is because of the goodness of God. The proof that God loves us is found in the sending of his Son…that perfect Christmas gift to the world. As I said Sunday, when we recognize the wonder of God’s goodness, it brings about joy in our lives.
I asked you to do three things in relation to God’s goodness:
- Meditate on it (like Mary treasuring those things in her heart) – think about it, mull it over, chew on it for a while.
- Thank God for his goodness – Tell him “Thank You” verbally…let yourself hear you say it
- Imitate God’s goodness – Ask God to show you someone you can be good to and reach out to them
