Lines of Communication

In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.(Acts 2:17, NIV)

A couple of weeks ago my wife woke up after having a strange dream the night before.  The dream was quite detailed and she remembered them all…but in the end, it was a bit non-sensical. The dream didn’t leave her fearful, just a bit unsure.

So our morning began with coffee and a dream-interpretation seminar.  We decided that the dream was from the Lord, but we needed more information and prayer before we’d “get” it.

Two weeks later, we got it.  We received a phone call about an out-of-state family emergence and immediately everything in the dream made sense.

God gave my wife that dream, I believe, for two reasons. 1) He loves her and wanted to prepare her for some unsettling times. 2) He loves her and wanted her to know that this situation was under his control and didn’t sneak up on him.  My wife took great comfort in these things.

God loves to communicate to us. One of my favorite promises of the Holy Spirit is in Jeremiah 31: “…I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord.…” (Jeremiah 31:33-34, NIV)

When communication lines are jammed, the barrier is not on heaven’s side, but ours. The Lord is reaching out to communicate with you. Lord, give us ears to hear.
