Peace: Step by Step

We live in a world of conflict…a world that thrives on conflict…that even loves it! Yet Jesus encouraged us: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God.” How can we be peacemakers in today’s environment?

It isn’t easy, which is why there are more peace fakers and peace breakers than peacemakers. Max Lucado says: “Peace has its victory, but it takes brave men to win it.”

When I was a kid, I loved to build model airplanes and cars. I’d save my money and go to the toy store and pick my model based solely on the exciting picture on the box. Every time I’d rush home and open the box, I would see all the parts and think – “I can NEVER do this!” There were so many parts! It looked nothing like the picture on the front.

But, when I’d take a deep breath and follow the instructions, step by step, it wasn’t nearly as difficult as I had imagined.

Reconciling with others is very similar. It seems impossible at first – an insurmountable task. But God gave us step-by-step instructions in his word. If we will follow God’s biblical process, step by step, we’ll have great results.

I hope you’ll join us Sunday for my sermon “Walking through the Process” in our series Waging Peace.

See you then!
