Advent Devotional

AdventusDomini_web

Adventus Domini is Latin for the Arrival of the Lord. An advent, in ancient times, signified a formal ceremony welcoming a king or emperor. We call the Christmas season advent for the same reason. We are celebrating the arrival of a king – one who will put the world to rights. The one who brings his kingdom of heaven to earth.

Advent – arrival.  Welcoming.  Don’t let Christmas sneak up on you.  Don’t get overly consumed in the secular aspects of Christmas.  Instead, prepare your heart throughout this month for Immanuel’s arrival in your own heart. Use this Advent Devotional to focus your heart on the coming King this season.
