Sabbath

“…those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

The sabbath is God’s idea. There are six days in a week to work, and one for rest. God even carried it forward into the Hebrew agricultural cycle and sabbath years every seven years.

Lots of churches provide their ministry staff sabbaticals – time off for rest, recovery, connection with the Lord and a renewal of vision.

That’s what I’m doing this June. I’ll begin by spending some time with my wife. Then I’m headed to Colorado to climb some mountains. Then I’m spending a week in a Benedictine monastery.

I’m taking my Bible and a stack of six books! My plan is to come back fired up and ready for July.

God’s doing something thrilling in our church. I’m so excited to have John Lewis coming as our Executive Pastor – and this week we hired Charity Goree to be our new Children’s Minister!

I’m anticipating a season of growth in the months to come.

So thank you for your commitment to New Life Church and for allowing me time away to prepare for this new season. And thank you for praying for me during this time.

I’ll see you soon!

Pastor Jim
